Welcome to the Advanced AI for Graphic Design Course

Artificial intelligence is redefining how designers approach problem-solving, iteration, and production. This course introduces a structured approach to working with AI within a professional design process, where human judgment remains central. Participants develop the ability to guide AI outputs with clear intent, evaluate results critically, and integrate them into cohesive visual systems. The emphasis is on control, decision making, and translating AI capabilities into practical, high-quality design outcomes suitable for real-world applications.

Learning Outcomes

This program is structured around progressive development, integrating graphic design principles with AI-driven workflows. By the end of the program, students will be able to:

Demonstrate proficiency in using AI tools integrated into Adobe software (Firefly, Generative Fill, etc.).
Produce original AI-generated visuals based on structured prompts and creative intent.
Develop a professional design artifact or brand package utilizing both human and AI-generated assets.
Apply ethical, legal, and creative standards in the use of AI for client or publication work.
Present a reflective design process showing how AI improved ideation, efficiency, and creative decision-making.

Course Overview

This course explores how AI supports and extends the creative process in graphic design. Participants learn how to combine core design principles with generative AI tools such as Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, Leonardo AI, and Canva Magic Studio. The focus is on concept development, visual exploration, and faster production while maintaining originality, consistency, and design quality.

Weekly Class Structure

Each week, students can access the content, including readings and assigned videos. Based on this material, students complete assignments such as discussion forum posts or project-based work to be submitted on the platform. On Saturdays, students meet with the instructor in a live online session to review concepts, ask questions, and engage in demonstrations and guided exercises.

Live sessions

Weekly live sessions are built into the course to provide feedback, critique, and discussion. They are a core part of the learning process, simulating real-world creative review settings where both design decisions and the use of AI are examined and refined. During these sessions, students present their work, explain their process, and receive input from both the instructor and peers. This structure supports iteration, critical thinking, and clearer communication of creative decisions.

Work Load

Students should expect approximately 8–12 hours per week, including the Saturday Live Session, readings, exercises, AI-based explorations, and project development.

This section focuses on developing a professional design portfolio that consolidates and presents work produced throughout the program. Students will curate projects from previous modules and transform them into structured case studies that clearly communicate the concepts, processes, and outcomes.
