Welcome to the Adobe Illustrator Vector Graphics and Logo Design Course
The Adobe Illustrator Vector Graphics and Logo Design Course is a structured, hands-on course designed to help students develop professional skills in vector-based design. As part of the broader Graphic Design & AI Certificate pathway, this course focuses on creating scalable visual elements with precision, clarity, and consistency.
Students will learn how to use Adobe Illustrator as a professional design tool for logos, icons, illustrations, brand assets, and visual systems. The course emphasizes vector construction, shape development, path editing, typography, color systems, and file preparation for different design contexts.
Through guided exercises, project-based assignments, and live online instruction, students will build practical skills in Illustrator while learning how to make intentional design decisions. The course also introduces AI-assisted workflows as a way to support ideation, visual exploration, and refinement without replacing the designer’s judgment.
Learning Outcomes
This program is structured around progressive development, integrating graphic design principles with AI-driven workflows. By the end of the program, students will be able to:
- Navigate the Adobe Illustrator interface and organize professional vector-design workflows.
- Explain the difference between raster and vector graphics and identify appropriate uses for vector-based design.
- Create and edit vector artwork using shapes, paths, anchor points, and the Pen Tool.
- Apply principles of composition, alignment, proportion, contrast, and hierarchy to vector graphics.
- Develop logos, icons, and visual assets with consistency and scalability.
- Use color systems, swatches, gradients, and typography to support clear visual communication.
- Construct simple brand assets and visual systems for digital and print applications.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools into the ideation and refinement process with critical awareness.
- Export vector assets in appropriate formats for web, print, presentation, and portfolio use.
- Create a final Illustrator-based project that demonstrates technical control, visual clarity, and professional presentation.

Course Overview
This course introduces students to Adobe Illustrator as a core tool for vector graphics, logo design, icon development, and scalable visual communication. Students begin by learning the Illustrator workspace, document setup, basic shapes, paths, anchor points, and the logic of vector construction. They then move into essential techniques such as shape building, path editing, color application, typography, and layout organization.
As the course progresses, students develop more advanced skills in logo design, icon systems, and brand-related visual assets. They learn how to create clean, scalable graphics that work across formats, including websites, presentations, social media, print materials, and portfolio projects.
The course also introduces AI-supported design workflows. Students explore how AI can assist with brainstorming, visual direction, concept variation, and refinement while maintaining control over final design decisions. The emphasis remains on structure, clarity, craft, and professional execution.
Note: This course is aligned with the Graphic Design & AI Certificate Program because it develops one of the central technical areas of contemporary graphic design: vector-based visual systems. Students who complete this course can apply their Illustrator skills independently or continue into related courses in graphic design foundations, Photoshop, InDesign, and AI-supported portfolio development.
Structure: 3 weeks, with weekly live online sessions, guided demonstrations, practice exercises, critique, and a final Illustrator project.
